When I began my journey back to self nine years ago now, I had first moved to Charleston. Within my time spent here, close to the shoreline of folly beach, I found the power of art in reconnecting back to self. Painting these heavily-textured, abstract seascapes brought me back to a baseline— to safety. The tenderness, slowness, and steadiness of these shores created a foundation for me to trust myself. To explore what I wanted most of this life.

This seascape was painted two weeks ago in my studio, the first I have done in almost 7 years. I want to end my era of Charleston, for now, in the way that I started: by honoring the power of the water and all it can hold for us.
