Drawing and charcoal has always been my first love. As a young artist, I spent time in many charcoal classes; studying the nude figure and drawing from life. In these mixed-media pieces, the contrast of light and dark are what creates the form— along with negative space. Both wet and dry mediums are used to reach the end goal. Without one or the other, would this form exist?
