“As someone who has stage four endometriosis and adenomyosis, I have seen blood and bruising and staples and stitching seeping from my body more times than most should have to…. as if they are now the normal framework for a living body— a body that should not require so much stitching together.
this piece speaks to this, the spiritual essence of what it means to have a body that is somehow doing both: chronically and invisibly turning against you, making mundane processes unbearable: while simultaneously healing itself, emerging from the place it should never have been, to keep you living, breathing and recovering. how can you hate a body that fights harder than anything or anyone you know, to keep you upright?
this is not only limited to women with endometriosis, or chronic conditions, or medical gaslighting— women are navigating invisible wars with their bodies— ones placed on them through the commodification of their physical being, sexuality, and power since they were little girls.
we are holding the weight of being unconditionally loved by our bodies, while also knowing our patriarchal culture has turned our physicality into one of our greatest threats.”
