New In The Studio: Progress in Color

many of my paintings start out extremely vibrant and colorful, despite the final product of mostly deep blues, black, white and gold. I have been allowing more and more color to shine through in recent works, and find myself intrigued by the discomfort it brings. though much of my work focuses on the female form, I have never painted in a very feminine way. Deep, bold colors have always felt more comfortable for me. In a way, completing this series has pushed me to reflect on the deeper question of what it means to incorporate color. Why am I so fearful of it? I'll continue to share this process with you as I dive in through the coming months...
